Rethink Interactive
Research Publication

!

In an ideal research landscape, practice-based projects should be experienced directly, not only described after long publication cycles. interactives keeps that work visible as citable preprints so readers can inspect the paper and its media while the project is still alive.

We also recognize that practice- or project-based interactive research is fundamentally different from traditional theory-driven work. interactives was founded on the conviction that after investing substantial time and expertise in an interactive system, authors should be able to share a clear, citable research record without waiting for a separate publication gate.

To enhance engagement and make ideas easier to experience, we embed multimedia content such as videos, GIFs and playable Itch.io games dire️ctly into each paper. Readers can interact with the work as they explore it. We also include a like and comment system to encourage participation and spark conversation within the community. ❤️

Here you can read, edit and submit preprints:

Preprint

Public preprints, no page limit

(Content check and posting: within 24 hours)

For early-stage or ongoing projects, a preprint allows authors to rapidly share progress and ideas without formal peer review. Each preprint is openly accessible, continuously updatable, and citable, making it a living research record for interactive work.

(01)

Fast Posting

Lightweight screening

(Designed for rapid public access)

Submit work when it is ready to be seen. The platform checks required metadata and basic suitability, then posts the preprint publicly for readers, collaborators, and future updates.

(02)

Living Record

Versioned and citable

(Built for updates over time)

Preprints can evolve with the project. Authors can revise text, improve media, and keep the record connected to demos, code, and discussion without creating separate publication tracks.

Scope and Submission Guideline

!

interactives publishes rigorous research on interaction in any form. Our scope includes studies of information exchange and behavior in human–machine, human–human, and machine–machine systems. Topics may range from novel user interfaces, games and interactive installations to algorithms enabling autonomous interaction.

Submissions must clearly demonstrate research contribution and insight. We are looking for work that advances understanding of interactive phenomena, not merely descriptive project reports or tool announcements. Each manuscript should articulate its novelty and research value, providing appropriate evidence of why the work advances the field.

Please initiate your submission by creating a draft on the Submit page using our Markdown-based online editor. This editor leverages state-of-the-art online storage and compilation technology, enabling you to manage preprints and revisions seamlessly within a single editing workflow.
